EAA AirVenture 2009

Dijon, 13 August 2009. Burgundy Development Agency was present in the USA from 27 July to 2 August, at the 2009 EAA AirVenture in Wiconsin. This air show is the world reference for light aircraft. Burgundy Development Agency returned with several leads for developing the aeronautical industry in Burgundy.

Burgundy Development Agency, accompanied by Mr. Leslie Blankley from Saint Yan Air’e Business, represented the InnovAero centre of excellence for light leisure aircraft. During the week they were able to promote the competence of the Burgundy region in aeronautics, as well as prospecting for new partners and investment. In one week, the Regional Development Agency managed to have thirty meetings with American decision makers. Burgundy Development Agency met a wide range of professionals from the aeronautics sector : training organisations, flight simulator companies, security materials, aircraft constructors, cabin fitters, engine manufacturers, suppliers and finally representatives from an airport in Florida. Several of these meetings concerned companies already encountered at the Aero Friedrichshafen air show at the beginning of the year. Contacts were made for partnership projects with the training centre at Saint Yan. Two further installation projects were identified. The message from InnovAero was well received by the companies present, but statutory constraints between the USA and Europe are delaying projects destined for our continent. All of these initial contacts made at the most important light leisure aircraft show will be closely followed up by Burgundy Development Agency.

The next step in Burgundy Development Agency’s prospection work is the Aero Friedrichshafen air show in 2010. In the meantime, many events will be held at the Saint Yan platform. The first one will take place on the 18 September 2009.
